simple coloring effect - photoshop cs3

1. Open your picture, as always.
2. Unlock the background layer by dragging the little lock symbol to the delete button and clicking "Okay".
3. Make a new layer, use the paint bucket to color the document in black/#000000 and put the settings on "Soft Light"
4. Make another new layer, and use the paint bucket to color the document in white/#ffffff. Put the settings on "Overlay" and also change the opacity to 50%.
5. Lastly, duplicate the background layer, drag that layer to the top of your layers palette and set it to "Luminosity" 6. Final image looks like this:
